Do Yorkies make good pets?

I am thinking about getting a yorkie from a rescue organization. I was wondering if they have good temperaments. Do they bark and snap a lot? Are they difficult to housebreak? Do they make good lapdogs? I want a dog that I can play with, but one that also likes to be by my side all the time and will snuggle with me.
