Blade of the Immortal Anime (doubts if the television anime series would do justice to the famed manga)

I'm having a hard time imaging Blade of the Immortal as an anime period. The art of the manga is so distinctive that I don't know if it'll translate well into an anime. Also, I'm afraid that by making it an anime, the series will be reduced to "just another samurai show" and that people won't give it a chance. But I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out. It might not be that bad.
